If you were looking forward to hopping back into Cyberpunk 2077 with the surprise 2.3 patch on June 26, you might need to wait a bit longer. CD Projekt Red announced that the update will be delayed without a new release date, as the team wants to deliver a patch with a scope similar to the well-received Update 2.2.
Paweł Sasko, Cyberpunk 2077’s associate game director, shared this news on Bluesky, explaining they need “a little more time in the oven” to get everything right. The team initially hoped to release the patch on June 26 but realized it was a bigger task than expected. So, the update is now set for an unspecified date after June 26.
“Hey chooms, We initially hoped to put Update 2.3 in your hands on June 26. However, we’ll need some more time to make sure we’re happy with it – we’re eager for a scope similar to Update 2.2. We’ll update you further as soon as we can! We appreciate your patience!” — Cyberpunk 2077 (@cyberpunk.bsky.social)
Update 2.2, released last December, surprised players with several additions like an enhanced photo mode, car recoloring, new customization options for V, and a Balatro-based side quest. Since CDPR is eager for a patch with similar content, it’s fair to expect some interesting new features or improvements this time.
What’s still unknown is exactly what 2.3 will bring. Some fans wonder if this might be the update that finally introduces a proper New Game+ mode. CDPR has expressed reservations about adding such a mode, but the demand has persisted. Could they have changed their minds? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Honestly, I feel a little wistful thinking about having fully platinumed the game before the final patches landed. But with The Witcher 3 receiving updates even years after release, maybe it’s part of CDPR’s approach to long-term support.
