Capcom Hints at Possible Return for Mega Man Franchise

Capcom acknowledges Mega Man as a key IP with plans to develop it further in future.

Capcom recently shared some thoughts on one of its classic franchises that has been quiet for a while. While they haven’t announced anything concrete, the company did confirm that Mega Man remains a vital IP they are considering for future development. That’s interesting news for fans who have been hoping to see the Blue Bomber return.

It’s no secret that Capcom often focuses on big names like Resident Evil, Street Fighter, and Monster Hunter. These series have dominated their output for years, which might explain why some other favorite IPs have been left on the shelf. Still, Capcom holds a deep catalog of games that haven’t been touched in quite some time.

In a recent shareholders’ meeting Q&A session, Capcom was asked about plans for the Mega Man series. The company responded, “The Mega Man series is one of our most important IPs, and we are continuously considering ways to develop it further. However, we do not have any additional information we can share at this time.” This suggests that while no new game is announced yet, the franchise is definitely on their mind.

For context, the last original Mega Man game was Mega Man 11, released back in 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It retained the classic 2.5D style and gameplay that fans love, but since then, Capcom has primarily released collections rather than brand-new entries. Understandably, they’ve been busy with other hits like Monster Hunter Wilds and the upcoming Resident Evil 9. Still, the possibility of a fresh Mega Man game is something to look forward to.

Are you hoping for a new Mega Man adventure? What kind of direction would you want Capcom to take if they do bring the series back? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. It’s always fun to imagine what the Blue Bomber’s next chapter could look like!
