Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will no longer receive support or updates. While the servers will stay online for now, they are scheduled to shut down by May 19, 2025, marking an early end for the mobile version, barely a year after its launch.
Unlike the wildly successful Call of Duty Mobile, which dominates the Battle Royale scene and generates significant revenue, Warzone Mobile struggled to find its footing. The mobile Battle Royale market is already crowded with heavy hitters like Garena: Free Fire, PUBG Mobile, and Fortnite, making it challenging for Activision’s Warzone spin-off to stand out.
The developers behind Warzone Mobile confirmed that the game is effectively shutting down. Players can no longer make purchases, and refunds for previously bought in-game content or unused COD Points won’t be offered. However, those who have the game installed before the shutdown date can continue playing until then.
“Refunds are not available for previously purchased in-game content or unused COD Points. However, you can continue enjoying the content if the game is installed before May 19, 2025.”
If you invested in Warzone Mobile-exclusive Operators or weapon skins, you’re out of luck once the servers go offline. The game was released on March 21, 2024, so its lifespan is notably short for a Call of Duty title.
The developers explained their decision: “This decision was made after careful consideration of various factors. While we’re proud of the accomplishment of bringing Call of Duty: Warzone to mobile in an authentic way, it unfortunately has not met our expectations with mobile-first players like it has with PC and console audiences.”
They also mentioned that their teams are already busy working on other projects, but details remain unclear. Interestingly, the team behind CoD Mobile is separate, operated by Tencent’s Timi studio, so Warzone Mobile’s developers likely won’t be shifting to that project.
If you’ve been curious about Warzone Mobile, now’s the time to try it before it disappears for good in May 2025.
