The popular first-person shooter franchise, Call of Duty, has once again left its fanbase in awe. This time, it’s with the announcement of the Zombies mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Interestingly, the Zombies mode, traditionally associated with the Black Ops sub-series, makes its dramatic entry into the Modern Warfare universe.
Led by Zombies’ creator and the Black Ops studio, Treyarch, in collaboration with Sledgehammer Games, this new installment promises a gaming experience like no other. As the cinematic trailer reveals, players will collaborate with other squads in a vast open-world setting to combat the undead.
“Prepare to face off against a greater quantity of undead than ever before as the members of Operation Deadbolt embark on difficult and multi-stage tasks as Soap and company attempt to stop Zakhaev and Terminus from plundering more resources, all while attempting to contain the current threat before it spreads out of control.”
The new mode takes gamers on a journey with a multi-national team of Operators assisting Task Force 141, battling not just hordes of zombies, but also the threat posed by Viktor Zakhaev, a notorious ultranationalist arms dealer.
For those keen on delving deep into the lore, the narrative is robust and gripping:
“Until we know what’s going on, containment is the name of the game. No one gets in and nothing, I mean nothing, gets out.” – Soap.
In this Zombies edition, the undead aren’t the only enemies. The living threat comes in the form of Terminus Outcomes, a private military company hired by Zakhaev. This private military company, led by Jack Fletcher, shows no allegiance to motives or ethics. Their only commitment? Money. Fans familiar with the Dark Aether Zombies storyline will recognize the vials containing the highly enriched Aetherium.
Activision’s post also teases:
“Combining the very best of Modern Warfare map features and systems with the tried-and-true core features of Treyarch Zombies, Modern Warfare Zombies presents an all-new twist on the fan-favorite third game mode.”
All in all, the anticipation for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, releasing on November 10, 2023, is sky-high. With the introduction of Zombies into the Modern Warfare universe, it promises to offer an epic gaming experience that fans will not soon forget.
