World of Warcraft players noticed the new Spell Density option didn’t actually hide other players’ spells. Blizzard has confirmed that there’s a bug and states that a fix is forthcoming, to be included in their Hotfixes Update when it goes live. However, no specific date was provided.
The setting added with 11.2 was supposed to let you cut down on on-screen spell effects by choosing how much of other players’ abilities you see. On paper, that sounds useful; in practice, many people reported no change when they enabled the option.
Players posted examples and asked if the feature was working. Do you want less spell spam or more visibility in raids? Blizzard replied directly in a forum thread, writing: “We’ve identified a bug with this new function, and we’re developing a fix for it.” You can read the developer’s reply on the Blizzard forum post.
It’s kinda annoying when a toggle that promises cleaner visuals doesn’t do anything, huh. The studio also stated that the fix will be part of their Hotfixes Update when that update goes live, but they didn’t provide a timetable.
For now, the best bet is to keep an eye on the forum thread and the game’s hotfix notes for the actual deploy notice. We’ll update if Blizzard pins a date or pushes the hotfix live.
