Black Ops 7 will bring back a long-missed progression feature with Weapon Prestige, and it expands how players earn camos across multiplayer, Zombies, Warzone, and for the first time, the campaign. The system was shown during the recent COD NEXT showcase and detailed in a Call of Duty blog post.
Each weapon in Black Ops 7 will have two Weapon Prestige routes that run from level 1 to 50, and then a Weapon Prestige Master track opens up. That Master track has 250 levels, and climbing those ladders unlocks exclusive rewards tied to weapon progression.
Every time you enter Weapon Prestige, you unlock a unique attachment that changes how the base weapon functions, and at each step, you earn three unique camos per weapon. The camo list includes fan-favorite remasters from 2012’s Black Ops II. Some of those rewards are only obtainable by working through the Weapon Prestige paths.
Black Ops 7 has the most Mastery Camos ever seen in a Call of Duty: 16 total. Multiplayer, Zombies, and Call of Duty: Warzone (in Season 1) will all have Mastery Camos as you’d expect – but for the first time ever, Campaign players will have a Camo journey they can earn through by engaging with Co-Op Campaign Story Missions and Endgame.
Additionally, players will have more access to unlocking Camos than ever in Black Ops 7 via Camo Rewards in Weapon Prestige and in Weekly Challenges and Seasonal Events starting in Season 1.
That means campaign play now carries camo incentives that traditionally motivated players to focus on multiplayer progress. If you usually skip the campaign, this year there’s a more apparent reason to try it, because some Mastery Camos will require campaign objectives and co-op mission play.
I’m glad to see more reward paths and reasons to try different parts of the game, and players who enjoy chasing camos now have more places to look. Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X and Bluesky.
