Black Ops 6 is eager to launch the King of the Dead event in its upcoming Season 4 Reloaded update, offering players fresh ways to earn rewards in Zombies mode. If you’ve been eager for more undead action and leaderboard competition, this event might be what the doctor ordered.
Season 4 Reloaded will also bring back Resurgence Ranked Play to Warzone, reintroduce the fan-favorite Fringe map to multiplayer, and introduce new Zombies events, plus limited-time modes like the Abomination Challenge and Starting Room. But let’s focus on what’s next: King of the Dead.
When Is the King of the Dead Event?
The exact date hasn’t been officially confirmed, but everything points to July 3 as the likely launch day. Originally, the event was expected on June 26 alongside the Season 4 Reloaded update, but the ongoing Rivals event runs until July 3, and Activision usually drops a blog post a few days before an update—none of which have appeared yet.
There’s also the Master of Grief event scheduled for mid-season, but it’s unclear whether it will overlap with King of the Dead or follow it. So, patience is the name of the game here.
How Does King of the Dead Work?
This event is exclusive to Black Ops 6 Zombies mode. Players earn points by eliminating zombies in any Zombies mode, climbing the leaderboard as they rack up kills. The tougher the zombie, the more points you score, which means hunting down those big baddies is the way to the top.
Once the event wraps up, rewards will be distributed based on your leaderboard standing. Don’t worry if you’re not a top contender—you’ll still receive a prize, but the best goodies are reserved for those leading the pack.
What Rewards Can Players Expect?
Two new melee weapons, the Olympia and Pickaxe, are tied to Season 4 Reloaded. One will likely be unlocked through King of the Dead, with the other linked to Master of Grief.
There’s also a new weapon camo mastery reward coming with this update. According to Stephanie Snowden, Senior Director of Communications, players who own BlackCell might even earn two camos during the event. That’s a nice touch for collectors and style-conscious players.
Remember that the final Zombies map is slated to arrive with the Season 5 update on August 7, so there’s still plenty to look forward to beyond King of the Dead.
