Bethesda Shows Off Starfield’s PS5 Features Ahead of April 7 Launch

A new trailer outlined DualSense support, improved visual settings, and PS5 Pro options before Starfield arrives on PlayStation 5 on April 7.

Bethesda has released a new trailer for Starfield ahead of its PlayStation 5 launch on April 7, and the video lays out the features Sony players can expect when the game arrives.

The trailer focuses on DualSense support first. Bethesda says the PS5 version will use adaptive triggers to add resistance while firing weapons, the controller’s light bar around the touchpad will reflect health status, and voice logs will come through the controller speaker.

The studio also confirmed upgraded quality and performance settings on PS5. Performance Mode will target 60 FPS, while the game will offer improved visual fidelity compared with the base console version.

For PS5 Pro owners, Bethesda says the game will include two separate display options. Pro Visual Mode targets a 4K final rendering output at 30 FPS, while Pro Performance Mode targets 60 FPS. Both use PSSR, Sony’s PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution upscaling technology, as detailed in Bethesda’s feature breakdown.

If you want more background on the timing, we recently looked at how Starfield’s PS5 arrival looked likely to land on April 7. Starfield first launched on September 6, 2023, as an Xbox-focused release before Bethesda moved it over to PlayStation 5. With the new trailer in hand, the final stretch before launch is now giving PS5 players a clearer picture of what they will get.
