Beamdog announced an Infinity Engine 2.7 beta for its Dungeons & Dragons re-releases on February 24, 2026, in a post on X. The studio said the update arrives nearly 15 years after the Enhanced Editions and more than 25 years after the original releases.
The beta targets four Enhanced Edition releases by name: BG:EE (Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition), SoD (Siege of Dragonspear), BGII:EE (Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition), and IWD:EE (Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition). Beamdog said the work focuses on long-term stability, modern platform support, and several quality-of-life improvements. The studio specifically called out improved cloud saving as one of the practical changes players can expect.
Beamdog opened the 2.7 build as a Steam beta so it can be tested by players immediately. The studio added that the update is planned to roll out fully for mobile users at a later date. Players asking about a wider console release have not received a confirmation yet.
Beamdog also addressed mod compatibility concerns and reassured players that 2.7 is not intended to break existing mods. Fan reactions to the announcement were largely positive, with longtime players noting they have been enjoying the Enhanced Editions since their original launch years ago. Larian Studios publishing director Michael ‘Cromwelp’ Douse reacted positively to the news on social media, praising the continued attention to the franchise’s older entries.
