Electronic Arts postponed the Battlefield REDSEC Elite Series, the $1 million competitive event planned for December, and moved it into 2026 after identifying a technical issue that affected the integrity of matches following the Winter Offensive update.
EA announced the decision on X in a short statement explaining the postponement.
“After a thorough review, due to an unforeseen technical issue that impacted the integrity of the competition, we’ve made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone the Battlefield REDSEC Elite Series in all regions. We want to be upfront: this is on us.”
The publisher added, “We’re truly sorry for the disruption this causes. Your time, passion, and commitment have meant everything to this series, and we don’t take that lightly,” and said the company remains “fully committed” to building a competitive scene for REDSEC. The announcement did not include a new schedule beyond saying more news would arrive next year. The original X post is available on Battlefield’s account.

DICE and EA said the problems traced back to the recent Winter Offensive update. Players and testers flagged issues such as menu stuttering, errant player movement, and changes to bullet dispersion that together undermined fair competitive play. The publisher decided organizers should fix those problems before rolling out a million-dollar tournament.
The delay removes the Elite Series from the December calendar and gives DICE time to prioritize stability for REDSEC. Players looking to join the standalone free-to-play BR when it launched can find details in the REDSEC launch guide, and the studio’s recent fixes are cataloged in the 1.1.1.5 patch notes.
