Circana’s sales data shows Battlefield 6 was the best-selling premium game in the United States for 2025 across Circana’s tracked platforms, marking the first time the Battlefield franchise outsold Call of Duty over a calendar year.
According to the figures, Battlefield 6 ranked first on Xbox and on aggregated PC storefronts, and it placed second on PlayStation behind NBA 2K26. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 finished fifth on Circana’s US list, behind Battlefield, NBA 2K26, Borderlands 4, and Monster Hunter: Wilds.
Black Ops 7 launched on Xbox Game Pass at release, while Battlefield 6 did not. Battlefield also arrived about six weeks earlier in the year. The timing and the Game Pass presence were highlighted alongside the raw sales rankings. Black Ops 7’s fifth-place finish is the lowest a Call of Duty title has reached in the US in nearly 20 years. The last time the franchise landed this low was in 2008, when Call of Duty: World at War placed sixth during the Wii era. Historically, Call of Duty titles have regularly been the best-selling game in the US, typically ranking only behind Rockstar releases and occasional outliers like Hogwarts Legacy in 2023.
Platform-specific placements vary. On PlayStation platforms Circana lists Black Ops 7 in fourth place, behind NBA 2K26, Battlefield 6, and Ghost of Yotei. Industry commentary and market reports have also noted that Black Ops 7’s launch sales were substantially lower than the previous entry in some European markets. The data that underpins the ranking was shared publicly by industry tracker Mat Piscatella:

The year’s results underscore a strong commercial rebound for Battlefield following a multi-year development reset and a high-profile launch; EA reported Battlefield 6 sold more than 7 million copies in its first three days. By contrast, Black Ops 7 faced tougher competition at launch and mixed critical reception, and launch sales in some markets were down by more than 60 percent compared with the series’ previous entry.
