Battlefield Currency joins Battlefield V tomorrow, Microtransactions incoming

Electronic Arts is finally giving up on microtransactions in their latest Battlefield V. According to the recent announcement, Battlefield V will receive premium currency named as “Battlefield Currency” which will be purchasable with real money. The premium currency will become available tomorrow, on April 4, 2019. What other reason could the premium currency be used for except a variety of cosmetics?

Below you can find the official announcement made on the Battlefield V’s Twitter profile.

https://twitter.com/Battlefield/status/1113459958715023365

In the FAQ, EA has also stated that the player skill will continue to paramount with the addition of Battlefield Currency. “What you do is what you get” scheme is no longer in power, and the addition of the new Battlefield Currency is here to slate new opportunities for players that joined the game a bit later.

The Battlefield Currency, as stated, will allow players to acquire items to customize their characters and arsenal in Battlefield V. With that being said, it should give no advantages to players but only a variety of cosmetics to customize the player’s model or, weaponry.

Currently, Battlefield V offers Company Coins only. They are earned through gameplay and is completely different than the upcoming Battlefield Currency. It is definitely a new type of monetization included in Battlefield V, now that we have Firestorm on.

This may be a lead on what’s going to happen in the near future with Battlefield V. If, and only if, EA notices a solid revenue with the new Battlefield Currency, Battlefield V may become a completely free-to-play game. That would probably be the most reasonable thing why this is happening. Not everyone has access to Firestorm, but only those who own Battlefield V.

Despite ordinary cosmetics, there will be other types of items. They are listed below.

  • Cosmetic Customization Items
  • Elite Sets
  • Time Savers

Elite Sets and Time Savers will also come to Battlefield V but at a later stage.

Elite Sets

Elite Sets will introduce a whole new and distinct soldier in multiplayer modes, including Firestorm. Each Elite soldier has a unique character with a name, background, voice overs, Best Squad animation at the end of the game, and an exclusive Special Assignment. One of the two elites that are close to arrival are Seamus and Ernst.

Time Savers

Time servers will be something unprecedented before. They will be items to offer experience boost and tier catch-ups. They will be, however, only acquired by real-money currency, or, Battlefield Currency.

Catch-ups will unlock Chapter Reward items, which will allow easier progress without earning anything through gameplay. XP boosts will have the same intention as in any other game, that will boost the amount of experience gained throughout a match by a predisposed percentage.

The Battlefield Currency can be also used for buying bundles which will offer a randomized pack of cosmetics, currency, time savers and else.

Items to give head-advantage

EA has also introduced a Starter and Premium Started pack, that will both enable players to get a head start on their Company customization. Further info on the Starter and Premium pack can be found below:

The Battlefield V Starter Pack contains:

  • 500 Battlefield Currency
  • Glacial – Face paint (Rare)
  • Night Owl – Weapon Skin Set (Rare) for four weapons:
    • Sturmgewehr 1-5
    • Sten
    • KE7
    • Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk I

The Battlefield V Premium Starter Pack contains:

  • 3,500 Battlefield Currency
  • Demolisher – Axis Soldier Outfit (Epic)
  • Cool Hand Duke – Allied Soldier Outfit (Epic)
  • Skorpion – Panzer IV Vehicle Skin (Rare)
  • Icefire – Spitfire MK VA Vehicle Skin (Rare)
  • Chromed Finish – Weapon Skin Set (Rare) for four weapons:
    • Sturmgewehr 1-5
    • Sten
    • KE7
    • Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk I

With that being said, the Battlefield V monetization model is changed by far, and no matter how amusing or funny it sounds, it will hit a backlash very soon. We are more than sure that the whole BFV community will arise and make a foothold against this move by EA. The “Time Savers” sound ridiculous that made everyone laugh so far.
