Battlefield 6 Open Beta Had Five Times More Steam Players Than Black Ops 7

Battlefield 6 pulled a massive Steam peak during its open beta, registering 521,079 concurrent players at its high point, compared with 99,574 for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, roughly five times as many. The Steam figure for Battlefield follows a peak of 334,549 during its closed beta. On the other hand, Call of Duty’s reported numbers for the recent period also include players from Black Ops 6 and Warzone, which complicates a direct apples-to-apples look.

Twitch interest mirrored the Steam gap. Battlefield 6’s beta reached a peak viewer count of 868,520, while Call of Duty peaked at 378,150 during September’s CODNext and 204,419 during the Black Ops 7 beta. People online and Activision pointed out that comparing Steam alone can be misleading. Black Ops 7 is available on consoles, Steam, Battle.net, and Xbox PC, while Battlefield 6 is available on consoles, Steam, and EA Play. That platform spreads when you’re counting players by storefront.

For context, Black Ops 6’s open beta last year peaked at 157,718 on Steam, a drop of about 50 percent year over year for the platform. Share your take in the comments and follow us on X and Bluesky.
