Battlefield has always been known for big, open maps filled with vehicles and destruction. Yet, the Battlefield 6 beta seems to be missing that mark, leaving many players disappointed by how small the maps feel. Size actually matters here, and fans aren’t shy about sharing their thoughts.
Memes about the beta’s maps have been circulating, poking fun at how cramped they seem. Only one new map, Empire State, appeared during the second weekend, and it’s infantry-only. Plus, the 12v12 Rush mode team sizes don’t help give that epic Battlefield scale. It’s kinda surprising, isn’t it? How can a game famous for sprawling battlegrounds feel so confined?
One player shared a screenshot of a Minecraft skyblock map, jokingly comparing it to Battlefield 6’s Rush mode maps. For those unfamiliar, skyblock is a tiny, challenging map with very limited space. The comparison nails how small the maps feel right now. The spawn point and M-Com are basically right on top of each other, which fans have noted feels less like classic Rush and more like a cramped arena.
Leaked Intense Tank Gameplay On Battlefield 6’s Biggest Map from r/Battlefield
EA has already adjusted Rush to make attacking a bit easier, acknowledging the feedback. Yet, another fan-made map shared looks more like a small apartment layout than a battlefield. That got me thinking about the Cairo map, I do tend to end up in the same rooms a lot, which doesn’t feel very expansive.
“Battlefield 6 will have big large maps” -The big larges maps from r/Battlefield
A meme that really cracked me up showed the words “Battlefield 6 will have big large maps” over an image of Kowloon Walled City, a famously dense urban area in Hong Kong. It’s a clever nod to the community’s skepticism. I can see a map like that working, but it definitely wouldn’t be large in the traditional Battlefield sense.
What’s a bit frustrating is that Dice’s lead producer said “Large maps exist,” yet none have appeared in the beta so far. Why tease something that hasn’t shown up yet? Maybe they’re saving the bigger maps for later, but fans want to see them now.
What do you think about the beta maps? Are they too small for a Battlefield game? I’m curious if others feel the same squeeze or if it’s just me. Yikes, it feels kinda cramped!
