DICE has announced a significant change to the digital standard edition of Battlefield 2042 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Apparently, the standard $70 Battlefield 2042 edition on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will also come with access to PS4 and Xbox One versions. The addition comes without any extra charge, similar to its other game editions, Gold and Ultimate.
So getting a PS5 or Xbox Series X edition would also grant the buyer access to the game on older-gen consoles, which might be a good investment for those who still have old-gen consoles and are about to buy the new ones. This means that all three consoles purchased on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S include the cross-gen bundle.
This feature will allow the consumer to continue where he left from on his previous-gen console, with all of his progress carrying on to the new-gen console. EA has decided to make all three editions support the cross-gen bundle, which is pleasing for the fans.
In other news, Battlefield 2042 is just about to get its beta event starting tomorrow. Battlefield 2042 Early Access beta begins on October 6 (Pre-orders only), while the original open beta starts on October 8 (open for everyone). As revealed by EA Dice, the file size of the Beta candidate shouldn’t be as big, as it will include a chosen list of game modes and maps available throughout the event.
