It’s sad and heartbreaking to see one of the most anticipated games, Battlefield 2042, being delayed to November 19. In a recent development update, EA clarified why Battlefield 2042 needs more work and how it will tackle it in the coming months. As EA stated, the global pandemic is the reason for this delay, which has created “unforeseen challenges for EA’s development teams.”
The decision to shift the launch of Battlefield 2042 has now been confirmed after today’s rumors. Judging by the recent update on the delay, it seems that the Open Beta will also face a wait. Previously, credible leakers have stated that the beta will launch on September 22 after the September 6 Open Beta opportunity was comprehensively debunked.
Building the next generation fo Battlefield during a global pandemic has created unforeseen challenges for our development teams. Given the scale and scope of the game, we had hoped our teams would be back in our studios together as we move towards launch. With the ongoing conditions not allowing that to happen safely, and with all the hard work the teams are doing from home, we feel it is important to take the extra time to deliver on the vision of Battlefield 2042 for our players.
