Next week will see a surprising moment for the popular RPG, Baldur’s Gate 3, with the release of its next major update, Patch 3. Alongside this update, Larian Studios has confirmed that the game will receive full support for Mac.
It’s worth noting that Larian had earlier aimed for the Mac version to exit Early Access by September 6. This was the same day the game made its debut on PlayStation 5. However, plans have since been modified, with the Mac support now accompanying the Patch 3 launch.
Larian Studios expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming response the game has garnered. Their tweet stated, “Thank you from the fiery infernal engine we keep in place of our heart. We couldn’t have asked for a better response to Baldur’s Gate 3. Patch 3 is coming September 21 with full support for BG3 on Mac.”

Since its initial release on PC on August 3, Baldur’s Gate 3 has been enriched with two major updates, demonstrating Larian’s commitment to refining and enhancing player experience.
However, Xbox fans might have to rein in their excitement just a tad longer. The Xbox version of the game has been delayed to later this year due to the removal of the split-screen co-op feature on Series S. Larian Studios has confirmed plans to support PC and console cross-play for Baldur’s Gate 3 in the foreseeable future.
When discussing the future roadmap of the game, Larian senior product manager Tom Butler revealed that discussions about possible DLC expansions for Baldur’s Gate 3 are ongoing. However, the studio’s immediate focus remains on launching the console version and optimizing the core game.
