Mundfish’s upcoming FPS Atomic Heart will be protected with the renowned Denuvo anti-tamper tech, but this controversy has gamers in arms. With no mention of Denuvo on its Steam page and a less-than-satisfactory excuse provided by Mundfish for using it, fans have every right to be disappointed.
This has been confirmed in an interview for Russian outlet. The translated version can be found on this link.
As per the head of Mundfish, this is what’s been said regarding Denuvo:
Yes, we have planned the implementation of a DRM system. Now it is still difficult to say whether this will affect performance or not, but we do not forget about the presence of DLSS – a technology that gives a strong FPS boost, which in any case will win back the losses, if any.
Despite Mundfish’s claims, there are still plenty of questions surrounding the use of Denuvo in their upcoming game. With its unknown effects and lack of advertisement, it remains unclear how a usually unpopular DRM solution could benefit this title. However, with NVIDIA DLSS 3 potentially guaranteeing no performance losses, we should all look forward to getting some answers when Atomic Heart officially launches.
