Pac-Man, Galaga, and Xevious are some names that instantly bring back arcade memories, and they’re about to get a new spotlight within Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration on PlayStation consoles. Digital Eclipse’s retro archive is going to expand with a Namco-themed update later this year, which might be a treat for anyone who’s enjoyed the original Atari 50 release.

The upcoming DLC will feature multiple playable versions of classic games, including Pac-Man, Galaga, Xevious, and Dig Dug. What’s more, it will feature fresh behind-the-scenes footage and archival materials, offering a deeper look into the history of Bandai Namco’s titles on Atari hardware. If you’re curious about how these games evolved or want to see some rare documents and photos, this pack may be worth your attention.

“Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration is being expanded with The Namco Legendary Pack, featuring an new interactive timeline and set of games exploring the history of Bandai Namco titles on Atari hardware. Includes multiple versions of Atari Pac-Man, Galaga, Galaxian, Dig Dug, and Xevious, along with video interviews, archival materials, documents, and photos from the era.”

Alongside this news, Atari has announced a new version of its Atari 2600+ system that celebrates Pac-Man’s 45th birthday. This console will support both Atari 2600 and 7800 games, and it’ll output via HDMI. It’s due out on October 31st, so if you’re interested in playing those classics on newer hardware, this might catch your eye. You can read more about it here.

Honestly, I can’t believe how much care has gone into preserving these titles and their stories. If you’re into classic arcade games or just want to revisit some of those pixelated gems, this update could be a nice addition to your collection. You’ll probably love this if you have fond memories of the original Atari releases.

Will you be picking up the Namco Legendary Pack for Atari 50? What do you think about that vintage Pac-Man artwork? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
