The Game Awards 2024 Nominations
Baldur’s Gate 3 was the biggest winner at The Game Awards 2023, taking home six of the eight prizes it was nominated for. According to The Game Awards, its 2023 event delivered a “record-setting” 118 million global livestreams, which it said was up 15% over 2022’s showcase.
Larian’s RPG took the coveted Game of the Year award and prizes for Best Performance, Community Support, Best RPG, Best Multiplayer, and Player’s Voice. Alan Wake 2, nominated for eight prizes, won three awards: Best Game Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Narrative.
This year’s nominations reflect not just quality but also diversity within genres. Strong contenders like Astro Bot showcase innovative gameplay mechanics, while Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth builds upon an iconic legacy through modern storytelling; both titles signify a thriving gaming landscape.
However, one must consider that such high expectations can lead to disappointment if either fails to deliver during future updates or expansions. As we approach The Game Awards streaming date on December 12th, which promises exciting reveals alongside awarded achievements, the anticipation continues to build among fans eager to see how their favorites fare against industry titans.
