Assassin’s Creed Shadows early physical copies have gotten into the hands of eager players, resulting in a flurry of gameplay being streamed and shared across various platforms. It seems that anticipation for this installment is palpable, and now it comes with spoilers.
A user on X (formerly Twitter), @DannyStevens, claimed that these early copies can be found on Facebook Marketplace. Interestingly, while Insider Gaming couldn’t locate any listings on the UK version of the site, Stevens backed up his assertions with images showcasing the game case and installation screens. As quickly as they appeared, those images were removed from visibility, an all too familiar dance in the gaming world when leaks occur.
As you might expect, Ubisoft is aware of this situation and has begun issuing DMCA takedown requests for much of the leaked content. However, it’s important to note that some gameplay clips may still slip through the cracks. So if you like to keep surprises intact until launch day, tread carefully!
The timing of these leaks raises questions since physical copies usually start appearing just a few days before launch. This particular title faced multiple delays; initially set for February 14, it was pushed back to March 20 due to development feedback that warranted more time for adjustments. One can’t help but wonder if perhaps there was an earlier print run in anticipation of its release timeline.
Marc-Alexis Côté shared insights on their decision-making process: “Since November, we’ve been thrilled to share our progress through Gameplay Overviews, and the overwhelming excitement has truly inspired us.” He added that he brought valuable community feedback each week, which they are keen to incorporate into this upcoming adventure.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is officially slated for release on March 20, 2025, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC platforms. Ubisoft sources have conveyed their confidence in this new date after overcoming hurdles.
