As we look ahead to the upcoming season in Pokémon GO, there’s a buzz surrounding an extensive lineup of events. With so much on the calendar, one can’t help but wonder if Niantic has gone a bit overboard this time around. Let’s look at what’s planned for March through May 2025.
Yesterday, Niantic announced a veritable smorgasbord of events starting March 2025, and oh my, there are quite a few to keep track of!
- Saturday, March 8, 2025 (Community Day)
- Saturday and Sunday, March 8–9, 2025 (Max Battle Weekend)
- Sunday, March 16, 2025 (Catch Mastery)
- Saturday, March 22, 2025 (Community Day Classic)
- Sunday, March 23, 2025 (Raid Day)
- Saturday, March 29, 2025 (Research Day)
- Saturday, April 5, 2025 (Raid Day)
- Sunday, April 6, 2025 (Hatch Day)
- Sunday, April 13, 2025 (Raid Day)
- Saturday, April 19, 2025 (Max Battle Day)
- Sunday, April 27, 2025 (Community Day)
- Saturday, May 3, 2025 (Raid Day)
- Sunday, May 11, 2025 (Community Day)
- Saturday, May 17, 2025 (Shadow Raid Day)
- Saturday, May 24, 2025 (Community Day Classic)
- Sunday, May 25, 2025 (Max Battle Day)
The planning is certainly ambitious; not one weekend goes by without some kind of Pokémon event from March through May! At times it feels like every weekend could be filled with fun activities, sometimes even more than one happening simultaneously.
A point of concern arises for those participating in multiple events. Trainers attending the City Safari will find themselves juggling tasks as there is overlap with Research Day activities scheduled for the same date. The Mudbray‘s debut adds an enticing twist that many would hate to miss out on while fulfilling research tasks instead.
No doubt about it, there are multiple weekends where two events collide:
- The second weekend in March features both Max Battle Weekend and Community Day.
- The fourth weekend in March includes Community Day Classic on Saturday and Raid Day on Sunday.
- The fourth weekend in May offers Community Day Classic again alongside Max Battle Day.
This brings us to a total of 16 weekends filled with events. To put that into perspective, last season held just nine such weekends across December through February. That’s quite the leap!
An important detail worth noting is that many events may require tickets for participation. So get your wallets ready; this season might be pricey!
The community’s response has been mixed. While some players love having options galore regarding activities within Pokémon GO, a chance to catch rare creatures or engage with fellow trainers, others express concerns regarding managing their time effectively amidst such chaos. FOMO is a common theme among players eager not to miss out on anything exciting happening nearby or globally. It raises questions about maintaining a balance between life outside the game and your desire to participate fully.
I find myself reflecting: How will trainers navigate these jam-packed weekends? Some might breeze through shorter sessions during Community Days, while others could feel overwhelmed trying to squeeze everything into their schedules! After all, the Max Battle Events necessitate actual presence, which means additional travel plans need consideration, too…
