Apple Countersues Epic Games for their “willful, brazen, unlawful” conduct

In case you have forgotten, Epic Games have pressed charges against Apple as a counter to their controversial policy. Furthermore, Epic Games has also added an in-game market feature to circumvent Apple’s 30% fee for online microtransactions, allowing players to buy V-Bucks (virtual Fortnite currency) directly through Epic Games.

For these reasons and the 30% cut’s circumvention, Apple has decided to remove Fortnite from the App Store. Shortly after, Epic Games filed a lawsuit against Apple, which ignition zoomed quite powerfully in the online world. Multiple big names have also followed the saga, sharing their own opinions on the matter.

But, it seems like the tides turned this time, as it appears that according to their previous agreement and policy, Apple has a slight advantage when it comes to iOS and Mac. Now, Apple, the powerful giant is hitting back on Epic Games’ doors with quite the power. According to Polygon, a countersuit against the original accuser has been filled, in which Apple depicts Fortnite’s lawsuit as “wilful, brazen, and unlawful.“

Apple is seeking to promote the idea that Epic Games wants to achieve special treatment from Apple’s App Store Rules. Vigorously in its statement, Apple has added the following:

Epic’s lawsuit is nothing more than a basic disagreement over money. Although Epic portrays itself as a modern corporate Robin Hood, in reality it is a multi-billion dollar enterprise that simply wants to pay nothing for the tremendous value it derives from the App Store.

Epic’s demand for special treatment and cries of ‘retaliation’ cannot be reconciled with its flagrant breach of contract and its own business practices, as it takes in billions by taking commissions on game developers’ sales and charging consumers up to $99.99 for bundles of ‘V-Bucks.
