Respawn Entertainment posted a developer update on Steam announcing a new Ranked system that will use both Dropships and Drop Zones, targeting rollout next week while backend changes and testing finish. The studio said it will watch player feedback and match data closely and continue to refine the system over the coming weeks and months.
The update lists these initial details:
- If your lobby has a minimum % threshold of Diamond+ players you will be playing Drop Zone
- The studio will confirm the cut off percentage as the feature goes live
- Players may experience a mixture of Dropship and Drop Zone matches, particularly for Platinum players or those squadding up with Diamond+ players, as the team works out thresholds
- If your pending lobby will have Drop Zones you will see RANKED – DROP ZONES displayed on the match loading screen
The developer added that additional UI and UX updates will follow as the feature is refined to make its behavior clearer to players.
