Apex Legends has been keeping its player base busy with regular seasonal updates since its release in early 2019. Each season lasts roughly three months and usually brings new legends, map changes, weapons, and gameplay adjustments that disrupt the familiar battle royale formula.
The current season, Prodigy (Season 25), started on May 6, 2025. It introduced Sparrow, a fresh Recon legend with distinct mobility options similar to Ash. Plus, the Bocek Compound Bow made its return as floor loot, while Pathfinder got some buffs to bring him back into competitive relevance. Interestingly, the Arenas mode also returned this season, giving players another way to enjoy Apex’s combat.
Seasons in Apex Legends have evolved a lot since the game launched on February 4, 2019. Respawn Entertainment first introduced battle passes with Season 1, Wild Frontier, and added ranked play in Season 2, Battle Charge. Since then, the game has expanded to include 27 legends, five battle royale maps, and 29 weapons, representing a significant leap from its early days.

What’s New in Apex’s Season 25?
Season 25’s biggest headline is Sparrow, a new Recon legend who brings fresh mobility options that disrupt the usual Skirmisher-dominated movement meta. Sparrow’s arrival is a nice change, since Recon legends haven’t had many movement perks lately. Crypto was the go-to Recon before, but Sparrow might steal the spotlight early on. You can expect some nerfs in the near future, though, because Respawn tends to dial down new legends after launch.
The Bocek Compound Bow returned to floor loot, which means it’s back in regular rotation, while the Care Package now includes the Triple Take instead of the Bocek and Havoc. Does this bump up the Kraber’s spawn rate? Maybe. Pathfinder got some buffs that could bring him back into the competitive scene, while Assault and Skirmisher class abilities got minor nerfs. Ash also saw some balance tweaks.
Yikes, it’s always a bit of a juggling act with weapon and legend balance in Apex. But that’s part of the fun, right? Season 25 is keeping things fresh, and players will want to test Sparrow and the new weapon setups while they can.
