Apex Legends will remain without its game director, an event happening shortly after the rearrangement of Vince Zampella to oversee Battlefield 2042. Apex Legends game director Chad Grenier is leaving Respawn. He has worked there for the past 11 years, for which timeline he claims it’s been an unforgettable ride. There has been another departure of a design director in Respawn Entertainment, Jason McCord.
In the recent blog post on Respawn Entertainment’s official website, Chad Grenier said:
Few words can elegantly describe my 11 years at Respawn. After helping to co-found the studio, bring the Titanfall universe to life, and launch the incredible experiment that is Apex Legends – it’s been an unforgettable ride to say the least. But today, this crazy chapter comes to an end.
“Apex Legends is in great hands,” – Chad Grenier continued, adding that he knows the game and the community will be taken care of. He also revealed the name stepping into his role: Steven Ferreira. Steven Ferreira is now officially the new game director of Apex Legends and has been a part of the team since June 2019.
At Respawn, we’ve always believed that new leadership and new team members mean new ideas, new energy, and new innovations. This couldn’t be a more accurate statement to describe Steven’s many contributions over the years.
While the praises for Steven were done, he turned towards Vince Zampella, who had to change positions and take over Battlefield 2042.
To Vince and the entire team at Respawn, making great games isn’t easy and it’s been an honor to create these worlds and experiences with you. I’m so proud of all that we’ve built together and excited about the possibilities these franchises hold for years to come.
Jason McCord has also revealed that after 11 years, 11 seasons of Apex, and 11 shipped maps, he decided to assign his last day at the studio. Jason McCord has brought this directly to his Twitter profile.
Today is my last day at @Respawn.
11 years, 11 seasons of Apex, 11 shipped maps. I thought that was neat.
It's tough to leave a game and a team that you love.
But, it's time to do something new.No plans quite yet. Going to walk the Earth for a bit and recharge. Stay tuned! pic.twitter.com/qLKA2iXca9
