Respawn Entertainment is introducing the Galactic Games event to Apex Legends‘ Wildcard mode, adding fresh gameplay elements and tremendous rewards during Season 26: Showdown. Running from August 19th to September 9th, 2025, this event spices up the action with new mechanics and exclusive items.
One of the biggest draws is the new Wild Cards system. Players can craft Wild Cards granting abilities like faster cooldowns, bonus melee damage, and even wall-running. Up to three Wild Cards can be equipped after multiple rounds, shaking up combat strategies. The available Wild Cards include:
- Mad Dash: gain a dash ability
- Recharger: recharge shields while running
- Personal Space: melee knockback is increased
- Hard Hitter: melee damage is increased
- Status Report: reveal enemy locations on knock
- Wall Runner: gain the ability to Wall-Run
- Speedy Charge: Tactical and Ultimate abilities charge faster
These abilities will only be around temporarily, from September 9th to 15th, so it’s a limited window to try them out and maybe dominate with some wall-running. Who knew Apex would get this kind of mobility twist?
On the rewards front, daily event challenges offer badges, limited edition Apex Packs, and more. The rewards page will rotate midway through the event, keeping things fresh. Galactic Games also brings exclusive cosmetics like the Godlike skins, legendary outfits for Seer, Sparrow, Gibraltar, and others. Some fan-favorite weapons like the R-301, Flatline, Devotion, and Triple-Take get legendary skins too.
Players can grab these through Galactic Games Event Apex Packs, which also introduce a new universal melee heirloom: the Grand Slam Bat, complete with customization options. It’s kinda wild to see a baseball bat join the heirloom club!
On the esports side, the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Split Two Pro League will run across regions, including APAC North and EMEA, during the event. From September 6th to 8th, the ALGS Split Two Challengers Circuit will battle for points and spots in the ALGS Last Chance Qualifier for the 2026 Championship. Maybe some pros will show off those new skins and Wild Card moves live. We’ll see if the wall-running turns the tide.
