David Goldfarb, the lead designer behind Bad Company 2, says another Bad Company is unlikely because the original team has dispersed across the industry. Still, he thinks the right leader at EA could bring the series back.
Goldfarb told a PCGamer that the people who made the original Bad Company games are now at different studios, including some who work on projects like Arc Raiders. That fragmentation means “that band’s not getting back together” to make the game, he said, but “another band could make it.”
Turning a spin-off back into a reality would require a publisher-level gamble from Battlefield Studios – the umbrella group made up of DICE, Ripple Effect, Criterion, and Motive – and from EA itself. Goldfarb singled out Battlefield boss Vince Zampella as someone who could pull it off, adding that he trusts Zampella’s judgement and knows Zampella loved Bad Company himself.
Goldfarb also praised the mainline series, saying that Battlefield 6 is in a good place and that he’d be curious to see how a revived Bad Company would land under modern Battlefield leadership.
