As Halloween is approaching, Epic has chosen Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs as one of these coming days’ free games, along with the not-so Halloween-y Kingdom New Lands. They will be available for free until October 29th. After that, just in time for Halloween, it’s rumored that Costume Quest 2 and Layers of Fear 2 will be the next games.
Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is a survival horror video game developed by The Chinese Room and published by Frictional Games. The game’s an indirect sequel to Amnesia: The Dark Descent. It’s Set in London on New Year’s Eve, 1899. The game’s protagonist is Oswald Mandus, a wealthy industrialist and butcher who is implied to be the great grand-nephew of Daniel, the protagonist of The Dark Descent. Even if it’s not as scary as The Dark Descent, A Machine for Pigs is still something horror fans should look out for.
On the other hand, we have Kingdom New Lands, a kingdom-building sim developed by two very talented individuals, Thomas van den Berg and Marco Bancale, and support from publisher Raw Fury. New Lands is similar to the original game, Kingdom: Classic, in terms of a monarch trying to establish a long-lasting kingdom while being attacked by otherworldly monsters. However, the Monarch begins shipwrecked on an island and has the goal of sailing away to a different island before getting overrun.
