Riot Games confirmed on February 13, 2026 that Akali and Senna are the next champions headed to 2XKO, in a post from game director Shaun “Unconkable” Rivera on X. Rivera said the team shared the news quickly rather than waiting to package it into a video while development continues.
The studio highlighted several concrete design changes. Akali’s 2XKO model is leaner and taller than her League of Legends appearance, trading baggy pants and tabi shoes for tight yoga pants and footwear that resembles sneakers. Senna’s alterations focus more on gameplay: Riot expanded her Wraith mode from a single obfuscation ability in League into a full alternate mode in 2XKO that turns her into a rushdown-style character.

Rivera stressed both characters remain works in progress and that Riot has not set release dates for either fighter. He also reiterated the team’s current priorities: duo play, core gameplay systems, and support for community and competitive scenes.
As part of duo play work, Riot is prototyping a Local Duo Mode to let two players team up locally for couch co-op and then take matches online together. On the competitive side, Riot said the 2026 schedule continues and pointed to the next Challenger event at Genesis X3. The studio also teased a Community Support program intended to give local tournament organizers exclusive in-game prizing to help smaller scenes grow.
The announcement arrived days after Riot published an update confirming the studio was reducing the size of the 2XKO development team earlier in February, Riot framed the change as a shift to a smaller group focusing on key improvements rather than a cancellation.
