Borderlands 4 players have reported a bug that prevents them from accessing Maurice’s Black Market while in multiplayer, and Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has confirmed it’s a known issue that will be addressed soon. Pitchford had been active on X, offering practical tips to players on how to trade for specific gear by joining groups and jumping into each other’s games. He advised fans to “game that shit,” suggesting that players share items weekly to chase particular ones.
But when another user pointed out a problem preventing access to the vending machines in multiplayer sessions, Pitchford replied plainly: “Well, shit.”
Bro – get in a group of people who post their rolls every week and jump into each other’s games to get the gear you want. Game that shit!

He then returned the next day to clarify the situation. Pitchford labelled the issue a “Confirmed known bug” and wrote that it is Fixed and will be in an upcoming patch within the next two weeks. That means if you’re currently blocked from using the Black Market with friends, the team plans to restore that functionality soon.

Pitchford’s tweets followed a busy launch period for Borderlands 4, which set a series of concurrent-player records in its first 24 hours. He has been vocal about performance and refunds in public conversations and has offered hands-on troubleshooting advice to players during the game’s early days on the market. If you’ve been manually trading or trying to sync Black Market rolls with friends, you might want to wait for the patch rather than chase temporary workarounds. The fix should be included in the next patch release within about two weeks, according to Pitchford.
I’d love to hear if this bug affected your loot runs and how you managed to work around it. Leave a comment and follow us on X and Bluesky.
