Gearbox is moving a Borderlands 4 balance patch full of Vault Hunter buffs to Thursday, October 2, so the team can squeeze in additional tweaks and proper QA testing. It matters because this update was large enough that it initially appeared to require its own separate release. The main Borderlands account also teased “the Vault Hunter buffs in our Thursday update” in a post on X, and Timmins added context on his own account.
“We wanted to tweak a few more things at the end of last week, so we moved our balance patch to our regular Thursday schedule to allow for proper QA testing,” he wrote, explaining the schedule change.

Timmins previously stated that the team had considered making the buffs their own balance update. Still, it appears that those changes were able to fit into the normal update cadence after a final pass of adjustments. He also warned that Gearbox will not publish pre-update patch notes for this round, as items may change based on QA findings.
Do not expect every bug fix to arrive with this Thursday update. Timmins said the “mark as trash” bug is fixed in a future patch, and that lost loot machines failing to prioritize high-rarity loot will be addressed as part of a coming major patch.
The community conversation around the update skewed toward Amon mains requesting buffs for some of the Forgeknight’s lesser-seen weapons and creations. As a Vex main myself, I can confirm I am already enjoying life, but I am also curious to see what small changes arrive on Thursday.
