Seven years after Dead in Vinland, a new sci-fi sequel is available to try. The studio behind the series has published a Steam demo you can download now. I’ll walk through what the demo includes, where to grab it, and the short sale on older entries if you want to catch up.
I think Ishtar Games‘s Dead in Antares gets the move right by transplanting the turn-based management core into a science-fiction setting. The demo promises familiar resource juggling – food, water, exhaustion and mental health – alongside research trees and expedition planning that feel true to the series.
The demo asks you to manage a grounded spaceship and send teams out to gather supplies. Expect to explore jungles, volcanic deserts and crystal forests as you try to understand the mysteries of Antares Prime, and to handle the interpersonal tensions that made the earlier games engaging. Who wouldn’t want to try a demo that mixes survival with turn-based strategy?
For a quick look, there is a short video attached to the original announcement:
Oh, and there’s a sale on the older games if you want to catch up first. Dead in Vinland is currently priced at $1.99 / 31.67, and Dead in Bermuda is free to keep on Steam until Friday, August 29. To try the new demo, please visit the Steam store page linked below.
You can download the demo from the Steam store page: the Steam store page for Dead in Antares.
