Epic Games and Netflix have added official Squid Game assets to Fortnite Creative and UEFN, letting creators build islands and mini games using a starter map and templates. The Gamescom trailer showed the tools in action and confirmed the Front Man skin will arrive on August 26, 2025.
Fortnite x Squid Game Gamescom 2025 trailer
The Gamescom trailer gave a clear look at what creators will be able to do with the new Fortnite x Squid Game creator-made games. It highlighted obstacle courses, Red Light, Green Light sequences, and player-made concept modes such as an Among Us-style guess-the-imposter game. The trailer also confirmed the creator tools would be arriving the following day after Epic’s announcement.
The trailer itself is available on YouTube and shows gameplay and the new assets in motion. You can watch the Gamescom trailer on YouTube for the full sense of the new toys.
Previously linked to Fortnite when explaining the collab, Epic followed up with an updated blog post on the Fortnite website on August 14, 2025, with more details about the launch and timing.
What creators get – tools and templates
Fortnite’s set of Squid Game assets includes a starter island map template, two game templates, and a range of devices and props creators can use. The main items listed by Epic include:
- Squid Game starter island map template
- Two Squid Game templates
- Disguises
- Throwables
- Carryable Spawner Device
- NPCs
- Props
- Voting options
- Skilled Interaction Device
For the legal and usage side, Epic published a brand and creator rule guide that creators should read before building with the Squid Game content. Check that guide so you know what you can and cannot do with the licensed assets.
The Front Man and cosmetics
The trailer confirmed that the Front Man character will finally have an official skin in Fortnite. This is a cosmetic many players have been asking for, and Epic set an availability date of August 26, 2025 for the skin.
Fan reaction to the Fortnite x Squid Game collaboration 2025
Reaction so far has been mixed. Oddly enough, some parts of the community felt the initial June content didn’t meet expectations. A Reddit thread titled “The Squid Game Update Genuinely Sucks” summed up some frustrations about glitches and map issues, with players noting things like builds clipping through terrain.
Other Reddit threads compared Fortnite’s cosmetics to other games, for example, a post arguing Call of Duty’s Squid Game cosmetics looked better, while another thread criticised the decision to use default character bodies dressed in Squid Game outfits instead of more distinct character skins.
Well, players are enjoying the new creator tools and building islands already, and more reactions are arriving as people test the templates and devices. Who wouldn’t want to try building their own Red Light, Green Light course and see how it plays?
