Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Season 5 will launch on August 7, 2025, bringing a final chapter to the Zombies storyline and fresh content for multiplayer and Warzone fans. With new weapons, maps, and modes, it’s the last big hurrah before Black Ops 7 arrives later this year.
After the somewhat mixed reception to Season 4 Reloaded, where some players weren’t excited with the cartoonish skins and bugs, Treyarch has a bit of an uphill climb to win players back. Season 5 offers a lot to dig into, including a multi-step contract in Verdansk Stadium, new game modes, and a wrap-up for Zombies that should test your teamwork.
Black Ops 6 Recap
Since its explosive campaign against Pantheon, Black Ops 6 has been delivering seasons packed with new maps, modes, and storylines. Nuketown and Urzikstan kicked off Season 1 alongside Zombies’ Directed Mode, while Season 2 introduced Gun Game and Overdrive. Season 3 saw the return of Verdansk and continued the Zombies saga. Season 4 tried out cel-shaded maps and tweaked Grief mode, but left some players less than happy. So what’s Treyarch doing with Season 5?
Season 5 Release Date
Remember for August 7, 2025, at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET / 5 PM GMT. No delays this time, so prepare to jump in right on schedule. Activision Blizzard teased that the Rogue Black Ops team is back with full CIA backing, meaning plenty of firepower heading your way.
“The Rogue Black Ops team is finally back in the good graces of the CIA, and that means access to all the weapons and firepower they could ask for.”
What’s New in Season 5?
Season 5 throws a lot on the table: new weapons, maps, modes, events, and a wrap-up for Zombies. The Battle Pass features Operator Stogie and unlockable BlackCell content like Operator Solace. Some features will trickle in 72 hours after launch or with the mid-season update, so patience is key.
Weapons and Attachments
- PML 5.56 (M249): A full-auto light machine gun with solid fire rate but annoying recoil and poor mobility.
- ABR A1: A three-round burst assault rifle ideal for sharpshooters who can handle recoil; known as the AUG to CoD vets.
- Boxing Gloves: Melee weapons that deal quick, decent damage to unsuspecting foes.
- Gravemark .357 Revolver: High-risk, high-reward with low ammo but strong power and range.
Attachments include the 9mm PM Skull Splitter barrel that ups pistol damage but cuts fire rate, and the PPSh-41 Helical magazine that boosts capacity for spraying enemies close to medium range. Also, a new Combat Bow scorestreak is in the mix.
Battle Pass Rewards
The Battle Pass costs 1,100 CoD points ($9.99 / £8.39), but unlocking everything will take some grind. The BlackCell pass is priced at $30 / £25.99 and grants exclusive rewards plus 1,100 CoD points to spend.

Maps
At launch, three new multiplayer maps will arrive, with a fourth arriving shortly after in the Reloaded update.
- Runway: Medium-sized, set in a ruined aircraft terminal with vantage points like a destroyed plane’s nose.
- Exchange: A marketplace with a three-lane layout across a deli, bar, and seafood market with shortcuts to surprise enemies.
- W.M.D.: A reimagined Nova 6 processing plant from Black Ops 1, now a vehicle manufacturing plant on an overcast day.
- Jackpot: Coming with Season 5 Reloaded, set in Casino Luttazzi inspired by a campaign mission.
Modes and Ranked Play
Six new game modes will spice things up, mixing fresh ideas with throwbacks:
- Aim High: Headshots kill instantly, while body armor blocks other damage; applies to Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed, and Hardpoint.
- Snipers Only: Only sniper rifles allowed, time to practice those long-range kills.
- Cranked Moshpit: Chain kills to gain speed perks and keep your bomb timer ticking.
- Cranked Demolition: Combine bomb defusal with chaining kills for a tense experience.
- Ransack: Collect gold bars from the map and fallen players, then deposit them without dying.
- Blueprint Gunfight: Try out new weapon blueprints in Gunfight matches.
Ranked Play will adopt Call of Duty League settings, offering exclusive rewards like weapon blueprints, calling cards, and rare weapon camos as you climb the ranks.
Events
Four events are lined up for Season 5:
- ‘90s Action Heroes: Celebrate classic action flicks with Boxing Gloves melee and cosmetic rewards.
- Operation Hell Ride: Race against a timebomb and snag the Gravemark .357 Revolver.
- Atomic Block Party: Nuketown-inspired event with plenty of rewards mid-season.
- The Reckoning Leaderboard Event: Play Zombies mode, rack up points by killing Special, Elite, and Boss enemies, and climb the leaderboard for rewards.
Zombies
The final reckoning is here. The Reckoning questline on Janus Towers will pit you against robot Kommando Klaus battalions and the fearsome Uber Klaus. This automaton packs a punch with melee attacks and a shielded exoskeleton that requires teamwork to take down. The fungal Gorgofex Wonder Weapon will help you with area damage, and the new field upgrade Mister Peeks adds another tool to your arsenal.
Clear the main quest to earn the Blood, Sweat, an’ Gears Operator skin for Grey, weapon charms, calling cards, and XP. New Grief Arenas offer 4v4 Zombies combat, and a Directed Mode will focus on quest objectives mid-season.
Warzone
Warzone fans get a multi-step Satellite Hijack contract inside Verdansk Stadium. Two new modes drop as well: Stadium Resurgence, letting you buy back teammates, and Deadline, where the lowest-scoring squad gets eliminated. Battle Royale and Resurgence Ranked Play come with fresh seasonal rewards like weapon charms, camos, and calling cards.
Conclusion
Season 5 is Treyarch’s last hurrah for Black Ops 6 before Black Ops 7 arrives. The update packs in new maps, weapons, modes, and events with a nod to ‘90s action heroes and a movie tie-in with ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer.’ The Zombies mode gets an epic send-off with Uber Klaus, so it’s worth jumping in before the curtain falls. Will this season fix the stumbles of Season 4? Maybe that’s what they were going for.
