The Game Awards 2023, Embark Studios confirmed the launch of their highly anticipated first-person shooter, The Finals. This announcement came as a delightful surprise to the gaming community, marking a significant moment in the competitive gaming scene.

The Finals distinguishes itself from traditional arena shooters with its groundbreaking server-side technology, enabling a completely destructible environment. This feature radically changes the dynamics of gameplay, as players can no longer rely on static strategies based on lanes and choke points. The game emphasizes the need for adaptability and strategic use of the ever-changing surroundings.

Players engage in a game show-like arena in teams of three, aiming to collect cash and secure victory. The game offers three distinct classes, light, medium, and heavy, each boasting unique weapons and abilities. Additionally, the game incorporates elements like UFO invasions, orbital lasers, and increased modes of destruction, enhancing the excitement and unpredictability of each match.

Embark Studios has innovatively offloaded the game’s movement, destruction, and physics engines to the server side. This approach aims to ensure more consistent and synchronized gameplay experiences across multiplayer platforms, addressing common desynchronization issues seen in other games.

The Finals is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Steam, with the Xbox Series S also expected to join the lineup. This launch positions “The Finals” as a potential game-changer in the FPS genre, offering a unique and dynamic gameplay experience to players.
