3DMAX beat FaZe 2-0 in the second round of ESL Pro League’s second stage, a result that leaves FaZe on the brink of elimination after they were forced to forfeit their opening match. FaZe had to forfeit against G2 earlier because they couldn’t field at least three players from the invited lineup. Håvard “rain” Nygaard flew in at the last minute to meet the roster rule, but arrived at the venue only about 30 minutes before the match and looked off his usual form.
FaZe floated Train in the veto, a map they hadn’t played for six months, and 3DMAX took full advantage. The French side won Train 13-9 despite FaZe taking both pistol rounds. Dust2 spiraled into chaos, the kind of game FaZe usually love, but not this time. 3DMAX recovered from a 6-10 deficit, capitalised on a misread by FaZe in round 11, and turned the match around to close it out 13-11. Bryan “Maka” Canda stole the show with clutch rifling to finish Dust2 off after 3DMAX fumbled the pistol to time.
