Treyarch has announced several changes for the Black Ops 7 beta after day one feedback, including a weapon balance pass to adjust TTK, tweaks to automatic doors, and a temporary boost to weapon XP in a beta update planned for tomorrow.
Weapon balance and TTK
The studio says the beta’s time to kill was tuned to be similar to BO6, but some players find it a bit faster than they’d like. Treyarch will roll out a weapon balance pass in the coming days to adjust TTK and make sure weapons are competitive within their class and role.
Automatic doors, made less annoying
Automatic doors are polarizing. Only five of the 16 launch maps utilize them, and Treyarch states that there are no manual doors currently, but it’s still planning changes.
In the next beta update, some automatic doors will be forced open at match start, the time they stay open will be increased, and the activation range will be raised so they trigger sooner. You’ll still be able to shoot doors open from farther away. Long-term, Treyarch is evaluating whether to reduce the number of automatic doors across maps, while warning that removing some doors could create unwanted sightlines.
XP, spawns and bug fixes
Treyarch acknowledges players want to unlock and test as much as possible during the playtest, so tomorrow’s update will boost how quickly you earn weapon experience, plus boost Overclock for several loadout items and scorestreaks. The patch will also include spawn location adjustments across multiple maps and modes, along with a range of bug fixes, as noted in the patch notes.
Day two of the beta introduces the Imprint map, Overload mode, and Survival, allowing players testing Zombies to review the updated Perk-A-Cola information before diving in. Treyarch is also continuing to tune its Ricochet anti-cheat after the first wave of hackers in the beta.
