Diablo 4 will get a new timed endgame mode called the Tower and a returning Leaderboards system, both arriving in beta during the Season 11 PTR from October 21 to October 28. Blizzard describes the Tower as a multi-stage, randomized challenge that combines speed, progress meters, and short windows to complete a run.
The Tower gives players 10 minutes to clear multiple randomized floors. Progress comes from killing enemies and collecting Orbs, and each run guarantees four Pylons that grant temporary buffs. A Tower boss appears once you’ve made enough progress; defeat it before the timer ends to record a run on the Leaderboards. The mode unlocks via the Obelisk in Cerrigar and is playable at any difficulty you’ve already unlocked for the Pit.
Leaderboards will track runs across several categories during the PTR, including solo lists for Barbarian, Necromancer, Sorcerer, Rogue, Druid, and Spiritborn, plus party brackets for two to four players. Players can view Rank, Time, Tier Completed, and Date at the Artificer’s Obelisk in Cerrigar or through the Collections menu. Filters include Hardcore/Normal, platform, Friend,s and Clan.
At launch, the Leaderboards are beta-only and do not offer direct rewards for top ranks. Blizzard has said it will iterate on both systems after Season 11’s launch and may add rewards or other changes later. This PTR run follows a recent preview that teased broader PTR changes to loot, combat, and leaderboards.
The comparison to the Pit is obvious: both modes are about repeated clears and build optimization, but the Tower’s fixed 10-minute clock and progress orbs push it toward speed and timed efficiency rather than slow endurance. For players who chase numbers, the Leaderboards will likely become a focused arena for fastest clears and tight coordination. For everyone else, the Tower could be another bite-sized way to run endgame content without committing to an hour-long session.
Expect the PTR week to demonstrate how the Tower performs under pressure and whether Leaderboards prioritize raw speed or creative builds. Comment below if you plan to try the Tower on PTR, and follow our coverage for hands-on impressions and ranking rundowns on X, Bluesky, and YouTube.
