Helldivers 2 added a fresh batch of AI allies called the Super Earth Armed Forces (SEAF) troops in its Heart of Democracy update, and players can’t get enough of them. These little guys have quickly become fan favorites, with many players treating them like adorable companions rather than just backup units.
I’ve seen and read that the SEAF troopers strike a perfect balance. They’re helpful without being a nuisance, fragile but able enough to have their shining moments. One player shared how a SEAF trooper helped them take down a parked Illuminate warp ship, which made me smile. Those small, unexpected assists turn these AI into lovable squadmates.
On the Helldivers subreddit, players are pleading to keep these troopers after missions end, comparing their bond to adopting a litter of kittens. One player even admitted missing the extraction to stay with their AI buddies as they fought side by side through waves of enemies.

There’s also a lot of emotional investment in their well-being. When a SEAF trooper gets taken out mid-salute by a Leviathan, the community reacts with shock and vows vengeance. It’s wild how these tiny soldiers have earned such fierce loyalty.
Playing with them, I noticed how they follow you around eagerly when you salute, like a bunch of excited kids on a field trip. They cheer you on, and you can’t help but feel like you’re leading a real team into battle, not just a lone wolf mission. It’s refreshing from the usual Helldivers 2 vibe of four isolated fighters dropped behind enemy lines.
These SEAF troopers bring a new layer of heart to the game. They’re just little guys with small guns with prominent personalities and even bigger hearts. How could you not love them back?
