Since the release of Split Fiction, which has quickly gained popularity, developer Hazelight Studios is not taking a break. They are already diving into their next project. This news comes just weeks after the successful launch of their latest game.
In a recent chat on the Friends Per Second podcast, head of Hazelight, Josef Fares, shared that development for their upcoming title began about a month ago. “Split Fiction is the best-received game we have done, everybody is super happy, but I’m so fully focused and excited on the next thing, that we’ve already started,” he explained.
The details surrounding this new project remain scarce as it’s still in its early stages. Fares mentioned they currently have around 130 pages filled with ideas for the story and some gameplay concepts. “It’s 1mostly in the story, what’s going to happen but a little bit in gameplay as well,” he noted. It sounds like they’re laying down some intriguing groundwork!
The success of Split Fiction seems to have invigorated the team at Hazelight. Fares expressed how buoyant everyone feels within the studio: “We just feel like, when we talk in the lunchroom or we talk to each other, we’re like, ‘Oh shit, we feel we can do better than this.” The atmosphere appears to be one filled with optimism and creativity, a wonderful environment for crafting engaging games.
